Writing Articles or Blogs

After many years of fighting the idea, I have committed to writing a blog. Many have shared that I have a different perspective on many subjects and have encouraged me to write. Taking up the challenge, I will share as I have opportunity and inspiration. Many subjects will be covered. I pray some will touch your heart in a special way or meet a need or challenge your thinking.

Just because I write does not mean anyone will read it. It amazes me that people come to hear me speak across the country. I know it is not because I am a wonderful and dynamic speaker. They come out of their love for the Lord and want to hear more about Him. They come for the fellowship with other believers. They come because they want to hear the Word of God clearly taught. They want to be confronted, challenged, convicted, and comforted with truth. It is always my goal to clearly present truth as God gives it through His Word. God then brings the results He desires.

In the same way, I hope the Lord will use this blog to touch hearts, meet needs, challenge ideas, and bring views not seen to issues. There will be humor from time to time. People cannot be around me long without realizing that I like to laugh. As my granddaughter says, “Granddad, you’re silly but sometimes you’re serious.” There is time for both in this life.

I try to have God’s view in mind as I look at issues and events. Many of you know we lost our son Chris to melanoma cancer in October of 2015. This has been the hardest thing we have ever gone through as a family. We have received comfort from God’s view of life and eternity. Going through such experiences will change you in deep ways. I have learned much about life, relationships and myself. I will share some of the things I have learned.

I hope you enjoy the articles. Come back to visit as I continue to write. There are many thoughts rattling around in my brain. See what comes out after the wrestling is finished. You may agree or disagree but I hope to make you think.

Destructive Behavior

It is interesting that in the homosexual community one partner cheating on another is a bad thing.  In the Biblical sense of marriage, God calls it adultery.  God said to stay away from adultery, knowing that it would be destructive to those involved even to the point of breaking relationships. It is also hurtful to those close to the ones involved, sometimes even splitting families apart.

While the homosexual community accepts adultery is wrong, they cannot disregard other of God’s admonitions.  Consent to one commandment means we agree with God.  To say one teaching is good but not the rest is not an option.  We either accept that God knows what He is talking about or we reject, saying that He does not.  For mankind to judge God’s commandment is to say God is accountable to us and not the other way around.  The real condition of all mankind is we are accountable to Him for all His commandments.  Do we want to become the judge of God’s commandments, saying one is good and one is not?  Such behavior demonstrates the epitome of arrogance.

A society that embraces a destructive behavior or relationship will bring destruction on itself.  It is inevitable.  The question is when and how bad will it be.  No matter what the Supreme Court could say concerning adultery, it is still destructive.  No matter what they say about gay marriages, they are still sin in God’s eyes and a harmful relationship to those involved.  If the law of the land says it is legal to steal or kill one another, does that make it right in God’s eyes.  Sin will always be sin and is hurtful to those actively involved.

The good news is to all mankind; God offers forgiveness.  Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin on the cross.  He then conquered death by rising from the dead, showing that the debt of sin has been paid.  The offer of salvation with the forgiveness of sin is available to all who will come to God His way.

Words of Comfort – Article 10/14/11

“And so shall we ever be with the Lord.”  The God of all comfort gives us words to take away our fear of the future.  They speak of relationship and residence.  They speak of confidence and comfort.  It is not an uncertain future the Christian faces.

When looking through difficulties and distresses, thoughts of how things will work fill our minds.  We are often distressed, in pain and confused about what will happen.  God’s words give us comfort.  There is a day coming for the Christian when we will ever be with the Lord.  With this in mind, five hundred years from now, will what I am going through still inflict me?  Will the pain from hurts still fill my mind?  Will this body still let its presence be known by pain?

Take comfort, for there will be a day when the cares and pains of this life will be over.  It will be the day when we are with the Lord.  Meditate on the amazing words of comfort.  “And so shall we ever be with the Lord.”  This life is not all there is for the Christian.  We anticipate a better place (residence), to be with our loving God (relationship), forever.

May God bless.
