September Prayer Letter 2023

Dear Friends,

Much has transpired during this summer.  The biggest event was the Lord calling Jeneen’s mom home to glory on August 9th.  She had struggled for years with many health issues.  Jeneen has been her caregiver.  Now Jeneen is dealing with the grief of loss.  But we sorrow differently that those who have no hope.  We know her mom is with the Lord and is not hurting any more.  There is comfort in that fact.  Please pray for Jeneen as she seeks God’s direction in the future.  She is already starting to travel in ministry again.  Jeneen especially needs physical and emotional rest after caregiving for so long.  Thank you for your expressions of love and sympathy.

I had a hip replacement the middle of June.  Jeneen not only cared for her mom but also for me as I recovered.  Thankfully it was not too many weeks as my new hip has healed nicely.  I am able to have more physical activity than before the replacement.  I hope to be totally back within the next couple of months, maybe I’ll even try golfing again.  I’ve already been hiking on a few trails, but not with a backpack yet.  Hopefully next year I will be able to backpack.  Thank you for your prayers.

Ministry –

Throughout the summer, we have continued to minister wherever and however the Lord has enabled.  I have been working with some churches without pastors, others with various ministry needs.  Please pray for Faith Baptist Church in Burley ID.  They are seeking a pastor.  I have been there a couple of times already and will be going again in September.  This is just one several churches and pastors needing extra prayer.

I am heading to WY for meetings at First Baptist Church in Pinedale where Ted York is pastor.  I will be speaking 5 times on the family.  I will also be going to the ordination of Pastor Bob Oswald in Delta UT at Grace Baptist Church.  The end of September, I will attend the Northwest Baptist Missions annual fellowship in Nephi UT.  From there I go to Wichita KS for meetings at Westlink Baptist Church and for the MidAmerica Fellowship meetings.  It is with anticipation that we look forward to what is ahead.  God has been working and is working.  We know He will in future, whatever tomorrow brings.

                                                                        Your Fellow Servants in Christ,

                                                                        Monte & Jeneen Leavell

  1. Monte,

Thank you for the update and am glad you are healing up. I do try to follow your ministry and pray for you two. You are dear friends and look forward to meeting again someday.

Karen is now “cancer free” and will need to do checkups.

We closed on a home last Friday and have a lot of updating to do. I am thankful we can stay in our temporary home while this is getting done. I hope to be in by the end of October, but supply chain issues may slow this down.

I am still searching for employment. I have had a lot of good interviews and have passed all the assessment tests but a more “qualified” person has been selected. I would appreciate your prayers. Age discrimination is real.

As far as my mental health goes, it is still going. I am going to look for a doctor this week for help. I am still having sleeping issues, flashbacks, and am emotionally unstable at times. I understand healing is a process, if God wants me healed. This may be my “thorn in the flesh,” but I know God is in control and will give grace to help in my time of need.

I would appreciate your prayers. I really miss the pastorate and Chewelah and start crying whenever I think about it. 😊 I do not think I’m strong enough yet to do pulpit supply but trust the Lord will give strength when it is His time. In the meantime, we are attending Sarah and Nathan’s church and are being fed. My ministry is being friendly and encouraging people, doing what I can to serve. It is a GFA type church, (they support Dr. Privett) and are doing a good job reaching out in the community.

Have a great day. I need to head to the house to spackle a multitude of holes.

    Dan

  2. My condolences to Janeen on the Loss of her mother. It’s very but at the same time she’s now with the Lord
My father-in-law, Joe Aguilar went home to be with the Lord in March. I miss him greatly, but I’m comforted to know that he’s with the Lord.

I’m glad to hear that you’re healing and back out serving in churches. PRAISE THE LORD!
